COMPANY OVERVIEW

Updated 02.01.2010

Summary: Metlife scores fairly well on its Board of Directors and Senior Management and also on its Internal Control environment. The company needs to improve its level of disclosures in its social and environmental section.

Some Metlife Board members including Board Audit Committee members are on multiple public company boards. Certain improvements could be made in the details that the Board Audit Committee presents in its report to the shareholders. There are instances of transactions between the company and senior management. The reason we include this particular metric is to showcase the extent to which directors and the company are closely bound together as a result of such transactions. On the social and environmental front, the overall level of disclosures is lacking and needs a more detailed focus.
