TARP Companies Outwitting Pay Regulation?

Pay regulation has been a contentious issue for some time now. Causing a lot of heartburn, it has dissidents calling it a move towards strong socialistic ideals. Different pay regulations address different components of a pay structure.

 

In the U.S. there is more than one governing body that is focused on regulation of pay. This year alone, there have been multiple, restrictive rules governing pay at Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) recipient companies (see table below).

International regulatory action on bankers’ pay, bonus and more….

The Netherlands Bankers’ Association will implement a code of conduct for banks next year that will limit the level of bonuses. Starting Jan. 1, bonuses for board members can’t exceed their fixed income by more than 100%, and bonuses could be clawed back “if long-term targets will not be met.

 

France and Germany have moved to limit the size of banks and bonuses paid to executives. Read the rest of this entry »
