Also, this week InvesGuard is privileged to host the 157th edition of the Festival of Stocks. This is a blog carnival dedicated to highlighting best blogs covering stock market related topics. There are a lot of interesting submissions for this week covering stock market analysis, ETF tools, role of inflation and interest rates, investments in Uranium etc.

On the companies that InvesGuard will be adding to its database, you can access these from our company strip at the top. Refer to this video at least once before you begin, to learn the best way to browse the company scorecard pages. It has some tips that can help you browse the scorecard better.

Of the companies that will be uploaded, there are some interesting tidbits on the Board Finance and Credit committees at Wells Fargo, board interlocks and business transactions with a director at Regions Financial, as well as directors holding directorships at multiple public companies in the case of Goldman Sachs. So stay in the loop by signing up for our blog updates and check back often to see the latest uploaded companies.

Plus remember that you can conveniently see all this information in one place on our widget. Download it to your desktop or add it to your facebook, iGoogle tool or any other social media. This widget is available on our home page on the left hand side. You can choose the level of data to view and also choose to view only those instances where the company has scored poorly (3 and lower) or has scored very well (4 or 5).

We would love to hear from you. So don’t forget to write to us at comments@invesguard.com

Welcome to InvesGuard

Welcome to InvesGuard!

InvesGuard has slowly but steadily transitioned from a blog that commented on general corporate behavior into a non financial research vehicle aimed at public companies.

The primary goal of InvesGuard is to raise awareness on the critical role non financial research can play even for the average investor.

InvesGuard passes public companies through a 75 to 100 point assessment system. This system assesses existing or potential governance issues as well as the target company's social and environmental responsiveness.

Besides weekly updates to our database of assessed companies that will be available to our subscribers, each month we plan to introduce research pertaining to one company which will be freely available to all of our site’s visitors. Simply click on the 'Featured Free company' box on the right hand side of the home page. You will be taken to the company scorecard pages. Once there, don't forget to scroll down as well as click on the 'expand all' button which provides the greatest level of detail.

Our featured company for August through September is Citigroup Inc. The data for Citigroup has been assessed as it stood as of April 15th . The objective behind offering certain assessments free of cost is primarily to make users familiar with our scoring system. As you will see in the first 'Overview' tab, the biggest area of concern for Citigroup at that time was the over extension of members of its Board's Audit and Risk Management Committee. Holding a CEO position concurrently while serving as an Audit Committee member of another large and complex company is a herculean task. 2 out of 6 Citigroup directors who were members of the Audit Committee, were also CEO’s of other public companies. Andrew Liveris-Chairman CEO of Dow Chemicals and Anne Mulcahy - Chairman CEO of Xerox. Such overextension of responsibilities may ultimately affect the company unfavorably.

There are several other issues as well as a few positives (surprise!) with Citigroup. Review them all and send us your feedback as well as comments on our website, scorecard or any other relevant observations to comments@invesguard.com

We will upload additional companies as well as start regular subscription services in two weeks, around September 7th. Untill then, keep checking back often for blog updates or more free companies being added.
